 The symbol of bathing appears throghtout A street car named desire.Blanche Dubois is always taking baths in oder to withdraw her past sexual experiences that have made her a person unable to control her own feelings and behaviour

because she is frightened all the time, and that is the reason why she baths in order  to control her nerves.Blanch wash her body as a way to scape from her promiscuous life in Laurel and these baths are efforts to erase her story in Belle Reve. She tries to avoid all the events that are appearing like ghosts in her life,provokingin Dubois pain and suffering.at the end these memories that she cannot remove from her memory are going to be the ones that will drag her to the edge of her reason. Blanche is going to unable to distinguish reality from fiction, ending in a hospital for demential people.
